Phase angle is the Moon’s ecliptic longitude minus the Sun’s, from a truncated Meeus series accurate to about 0.3°. Ample for phase, sign and calendar-day boundaries. A production build swaps this for a full ephemeris and adds void-of-course windows, which need aspect calculation this demo does not carry.
