The Petit Lenormand: 36 plain, practical pictures read two at a time, so that two cards make one phrase. Lay a short line for a quick question, the box of nine for a fuller look, or the Grand Tableau for everything at once.
The 36 cards are shuffled with your browser’s cryptographic random generator and laid out in order; Lenormand cards are read upright only. Every spread is read in pairs, as Lenormand readers do: in a line, each card with its neighbour and the two ends as the summary; in the box of nine, the centre card with each card around it, then the corners. In the Grand Tableau all 36 cards lie in four rows of nine: your card (the Man or the Woman, whichever you choose to stand for you, of any gender) is read with every card touching it, the house it lands in (place n is the house of card n) colours the whole reading, and on its row the cards to the left lie behind you and those to the right ahead. The card pictures are original line drawings made for this site; the numbers and playing-card insets follow the 1799 Game of Hope the deck descends from. The readings are sample text written for this demo.
