The Handbook

Six old books on the cards, the stars, the moon, stones, hands and charms, bound into one book you can read here, page by page. Every word is in the public domain, with an introduction to each book. This is the half of the site a stranger lands on from a search and stays to read.

Texts from Project Gutenberg and Wikisource, transcribed and proofread by volunteers from the printed editions named on each title page; illustrations from the same editions, reduced for the web. All are in the public domain in the United States and the United Kingdom. Each is reproduced as published, with the language and views of its time.

The monthly recorded reading

Video placeholder. On a live site this is the reader’s own recording for each subscriber, 8–10 minutes, hosted privately on Vimeo or similar and shown only to that subscriber. Nothing loads from any video service on this demo.

Positive work only

Protection, cleansing, luck, fortune, blessings, wellbeing, skincare and haircare, self-knowledge, moon and seasonal practice, divination. No curses, no hexes, no binding, no love spells, no destiny swapping, and nothing worked on a named person without their consent. Historical material describing baneful practice appears as history, clearly framed, never as instruction.

It is also the cheapest evidence of brand safety an ad network will ever ask you for.
